Another good day

Hi all, this update will be shorter than normal as all of us are pretty wiped out right now. Mia has continued to show great signs of improvement. The physical therapist as actually amazed by how she had progressed in the past day or two. Her eyes are opening almost all of the way and she has been looking around a little bit! She is also squirming a lot now and has been starting to grasp onto some of the tubes and wires that are attached to her. She was even causing some mischief today when she knocked over some of her bath water and the nurse had to clean her whole bed!

Mia also graduated to mommy's milk today! They put a feeding tube down her mouth and into her stomach and she is now getting 5ccs of milk now. Eventually that will ween her completely off of the IV supplement she has been getting and will be just on milk. They also moved her IV line from her belly button to a more permanent place in her hand. It actually took the nurses three tries to get it in, so she has a couple of new poke holes on her. Mia's jaw has also continued to loosen more and more. She can now open it a little under halfway now! She also had the hiccups today as well!

Please continue praying for her breathing. She is still slowly improving on the breathing but she does still rely on the ventilator most of the time. The doctor said today that he does want to test her again to see if she is able to breath on her own. Please pray that she will be up to the challenge of this test and show positive signs of improvement. There is really no way of knowing if she will try to breath on her own until they do this test.

Also, please pray for the rest of us as we go through all of this. Betsy and Becky have been awesome at staying overnight at the hospital so there is someone nearby at all times but the toll of being at the hospital for so long is starting to wear on everyone. Rachael and I are grateful that both grandmother's are willing to take the night shift for us but we realize that this will be difficult to continue indefinitely.

Thanks again for all of your prayers and support. Below are two pictures of Mia opening her eyes.
