Dear friends and family. Today has been a very difficult day for all of us. Mia had another apnea test today which basically is taking her off of the ventilator and seeing if she attenpts to breath. The sad news is, although she did do a little better this time, she should have been able to do it without a problem. Mia does start taking some breaths but the depth of the breath isn't enough to sustain her. The doctor and nurse have said that the feeling to breath is not something that gets better. The problem as far as they understand is nuerological and it isn't something that can resolve itself.
The choices from here get much more difficult. If Mia is unable to breath on her own there is a possibility of keeping her on a breathing machine indefinetly. However, as the doctor explained, the quality of life she would have doing that for the rest of life would not be good. There are still a couple of more tests to be done, but they are long shots and they will only provide us an answer of 'what' but it likely will not provide a solution.
God is all powerfull and we know that he is able to heal Mia. At this point everything is in his hands. We ask that you continue to pray for Mia as well as Rachael and I. The choices ahead and the days ahead will be the most difficult in our lives.
God will carry us throgh and we will praise him no matter the outcome.

Hello, you don't know me but a friend told me about y'all. We also have a daughter with brain injuries.
ReplyDeleteBe strong in the Lord and take one day at a time. Yes it is wise to prepare for the future but do not focus too much on thinking and worrying about the future. During the first few weeks of Sierra's life, we almost lost her several times. The only way we made it through was by taking it one day at a time and relying on the grace that God gave for that day.
Your daughter is a precious treasure. God has special plans for her.
Only listen to the doctors with half an ear. They mean well, but they do not know everything and many times they are very pessimistic. We serve a mighty God and He alone knows the potential that our disabled children have for the future. They are weak but He is strong.
I am praying for y'all and pray that God will be glorified through Mia's life. I pray that He will give you His strength. Do NOT give up hope.
