Continued progress ....

Mia is continuing to improve daily! She has periods where she's breathing completely on her own while she sleeps (up to 45 minutes), but then she gets wiped out or something and then just rides the vent. She's definitely having periods of true awake time and she's very alert and aware that she's uncomfortable with all the tubes and wires in and around her. She's looking around, not just opening her eyes, so we're so happy with that improvement!! When she is awake, or makes movements when she is asleep, she breathes on her own. Continue to pray that whatever connection to her brain is "loose" to breathe on her own will reconnect and it wouldn't take so much effort on her part to do. Dr. Blahnik is going to another apnea test today where he's going to challenge her to breathe on her own. It's basically like you holding your breath ... sooner or later, you're going to get that desire to gasp for air... that's what he's looking for. Last time he tried the test, she was completely comfortable to just not to try to breathe... so pray!! Of course we'll be soo grateful to bring her home in any condition, but of course we'd love to have her being able to breathe on her own and not needing to have her be on a machine.

Mia also graduated from being fed 5cc's to 35cc's last night and is tolerating it very well! She's gonna chunk up in no time and be just as fat as her big sister was as a baby! =)
